Cold hardy palms have been part of Virginia for some time now, specifically near the coast. Virginia has a mellow muggy beachfront atmosphere with sweltering moist summers and cold winters. The normal July temperature is about 78°F (26°C) while the normal January temperature is around 36°F (2°C).


Virginia gets a plethora of weather from hurricanes and tornadoes, to winter storms and ice. Yearly snowfall ranges from 8-15 in (20-38 cm). The hottest temperature at any point recorded was 110°F (43°C) and the most minimal was – 30°F (– 34°C). Virginia USDA zones 5b to 8b.
